GAMBIER ISLANDS
Gambier archipelago is a small group of islands located at the southeast of Tuamotu. Not very touristic, these islands are calm and peacefull. Climate is different from the one of Society islands and it is not warm throughout the year. The cold season starts in the end of May where the temperature is about 14-16 degrees. Locals can grow potatoes and apples there.
What to see (or What to do)
The good weather conditions and a very specific climate privilege pearl oysters. There are a lot of pearl farms in the lagoons of Mangareva. Gambier pearls are known for their brightness and various colors. It is the one of the best places in French Polynesia to choose your pearls for beautiful necklaces, bracelets and earnings.
